About the Founder
My name is Flora, and I'm a Montreal-based entrepreneur. FoodStox started with a phone calls and a lot of frustration. In 2020, I launched an online grocery store in Montreal. It didn't work out and when I tried to pivot to an online discount grocery store, I needed surplus inventory but the only way to find it was to call brands one by one, over and over, hoping someone had something available that week. Sometimes they did, Sometimes they didn't. Either way, I was back on the phone the next week doing it all over again. There was no central place to see what was out there, no way to browse available surplus in real time. And working with brokers wasn't an option because the margins didn't make sense for my business. I kept thinking if I'm struggling to find surplus as a buyer, sellers must be struggling just as hard to move it. Both sides had the same problem with no easy way to find each other.
That's why I built FoodStox. One marketplace where sellers list what they need to move, buyers see it instantly, and the product gets a second life before it becomes a write-off.
